Bricks by the Lake - January 25, 2025
Back for our Fourth annual Bricks by the Lake event, Charm City LUG organized and displayed at the Reston Community Center in Reston, VA for an event supporting the Reston Museum and Historic Trust. The event included a 'Master Builder' gallery featuring original builds from Charm City LUG members, and one of our members won a fan favorite award! Just like last year, the event also included a custom LEGO kit designed by Charm City LUG members, which were sold to raise funds for the Reston Museum.
Art of the Brick Outing - February 22, 2025
A change up from our typical events and activities, Charm City LUG members organized a group outing to visit the incredible Art of the Brick exhibit on display in Washington, DC.
BrickFair Fredericksburg, VA - March 27-30, 2025
Charm City LUG members attended BrickFair Fredericksburg for the third year as an event, and came out in full force with 16 members in attendance. The fun filled LEGO Community event even brought one of our long-time members her first "Brickee" award for the best use of color. Congratulations Dana!
Pride Display - June 1-30, 2025
Charm City LUG members joined members of NOVA LUG in displaying pride-themed builds at the Montgomery Mall. This month-long display was a colorful celebration of the diversity of the LEGO fan community and the members of the LGBTQ+ community around the DMV.
BrickWorld Chicago - June 11-15, 2025
Charm City LUG members returned to Chicago for the annual BrickWorld event featuring Adult Fans of LEGO from all over the world.
Columbia Maker Faire - June 29, 2025
A collaborative event/display with the Maker Community, this event was held outdoors at the Chrysalis lawns in Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods featuring interactive LEGO displays focused on movement and science and engineering.
B&O Railroad Museum Display - July 19-20, 2025
Hosted here in Charm City at the B&O Roundhouse Museum, we displayed a large train display with lots of buildings for our second year in a row. We also supplied an area for kids to build and even showcased many of their builds as well!
BrickFair VA, July 30, 2025 through August 3, 2025
With over 60 members from Charm City LUG, BrickFair VA remained our biggest event of the year, as we brought 2 massive collaborative displays to over 15,000 public attendees. Our collaborative display included a castle collab, as well as our biggest city and train layout yet, featuring a fully functional collaborative tower with a working elevator that attendees could control using an iPad. We even took home 7 "Brickees" amongst our member's builds!
Marine Corps Display - September 6-7, 2025
Held in collaboration with the National Museum of the Marine Corps, this display included original LEGO builds from members of Charm City LUG celebrating iconic moments in military history. Over the course of the weekend over 1500 attendees visited the Museum, and LUG members engaged with the public to highlight their love of LEGO and the sacrifices made by our armed service members.
Brick Erie - September 12-14, 2025
Back again for the annual Brick Erie event organized by Charm City LUG in collaboration with the organizers of Erie Comic Con, this incredible event featured original builds from several LUG members, and a celebration of the shared interests in LEGO and comic books. Charm City LUG even coordinated several activities for the public attendees to engage in speed build challenges and win prizes to take some LEGO home.
Calvert County Superhero Sunday Event - September 14, 2025
In collaboration with the Calvert County Parks & Recreation department, Charm City LUG displayed superhero themed original builds in honor of our community heroes, our first responders (police, firefighters, EMTs and nurses). This outdoor event celebrated the community and included play brick for children of all ages!
Marshy Point Nature Center Fall Festival - September 20, 2025
A new event for the Charm City LUG, we collaborated with the Marshy Point Nature Center to celebrate the fall season and the nature in the surrounding Baltimore area. LUG members displayed a variety of nature themed original builds celebrating animals and their habitats, while we brought play brick for children of all ages to build and create creatures of their own.
Stephens Forest Elementary School Display - October 9, 2025
Not all events have to be huge. Charm City LUG created a new series of events with local elementary schools to bring some hands-on experience with LEGO brick to the next generation of builders. This free after school event, focused on inspiring kids to build their dreams.

Bricks by the Lake - January 27, 2024
Third time's a charm for Charm City LUG who organized and displayed at the Reston Community Center in Reston, VA for an event supporting the Reston Museum and Historic Trust. BrickFair Fredericksburg, VA - March 7-10, 2024
This was the second year attending BrickFair Fredericksburg and Charm City was back! This time we earned two coveted "Brickee" awards.
Downtown Columbia Maker Faire - June 1, 2024
A collaborative event/display with the Maker Community, this event was held outdoors at the Chrysalis lawns in Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods featuring interactive LEGO displays focused on movement and science and engineering.
BrickWorld Chicago - June 15-16, 2024
Charm City was back again at BrickWorld Chicago. Our very delicious looking gingerbread house was nominated for an award!
BrickFair VA - August 3-4, 2024
Our annual flagship event hosted by BrickFair Lego Fan Expo. This event attracts over 1,500 AFOL builders, and a public attendance of over 15,000! At the 2022 event, Charm City LUG displayed its largest display yet, with a full city skyline, Cyberpunk city skyline, and a large underground Harry Potter display! At this event, LUG members were honored with an astounding 5 "Brickee" awards!
Baltimore Roundhouse Display - August 17-18, 2024
Hosted here in Charm City at the B&O Roundhouse Museum, we displayed a large train display with lots of buildings. We also supplied an area for kids to build and even showcased many of their builds as well!

Brick Erie - September 20-22, 2024
In it's second year, this event organized by Charm City LUG members in collaboration with the Erie Comic Con, featured artistic builds from a variety of LUG members, including Charm City LUG and other LEGO communities across the Northeastern United States. This year's theme focused on Superheroes strengthening the partnership with the parallel Comic Con event.
Brick Convention Long Island NY - October 19-20, 2024
Several Charm City LUG members participated in this regional LEGO community event, including Club President, Mel Brown serving as a keynote speaker to discuss his experience building LEGO and participating in the LEO Masters television program.
Northern Virginia Maker Faire - October 20, 2024
A collaborative event/display with the Maker Community, this event was held outdoors in Alexandria, VA featuring interactive LEGO displays focused on movement and science and engineering.
Brick Convention South Carolina - November 2-3, 2024
Several Charm City LUG members participated in this regional LEGO community event, including Club President, Mel Brown serving as a keynote speaker to discuss his experience building LEGO and participating in the LEO Masters television program.
Marley Station Mall Display - November 23, 2024 through January 5, 2025
Charm City LUG returned for our annual Marley Station Mall display and brought some winter magic with a layer of "snow" across our entire City and Train layout. We are always thrilled to bring some cheer on to the faces of visitors throughout the holiday season!
2023 - 12 Events
Children's Literature Display - March 1-31, 2023
Continuing this year's focus on literature and bringing LEGO to people of all ages, Charm City LUG reached out to the local libraries in the area to offer an original LEGO display with builds based on children's books. Our goal was to excite the imaginations of children at the library and inspire them to read (and maybe do some building of their own)! For the Month of March, this touring display made its way to the Calvert County Southern Branch Library in Solomons, MD.
BrickFair Fredericksburg, VA - March 23-26, 2023
BrickFair was on the move with the introduction of a new location for the Spring of 2023. Charm City LUG participated with a handful of builders, displaying MOCs throughout the weekend. While a smaller event than the annual BrickFair VA in Chantilly, this event saw fantastic engagement from residents in the Fredericksburg area, and the LUG bringing home 1 "Brickee" award.
Children's Literature Display - April 1-30, 2023
Our final spring literature display of 2023, we took our children's book themed builds to the Calvert Library Southern Branch. Our goal was to excite the imaginations of children at the library and inspire them to read (and maybe do some building of their own)!
Bricks for the Community - April 15, 2023
Our first event held in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, this event included hands-on LEGO displays, build opportunities for kids, and educational materials for children of all ages.
Downtown Columbia Marker's Faire - April 23, 2023
A collaborative event/display with the Make Community, this event will be held at the Chrysalis in Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods featuring interactive LEGO displays focused on movement and science and engineering.

A May the Fourth celebration at All Time Toys featuring some incredible Star Wars builds.
Bricks at Elkridge - May 20, 2023
Charm City LUG offered an exhibition of their unique and innovative creations at the Elkridge Library.
Annemarie Gardens "Enchanted Summer at the Garden" - May 21, 2023
Our second year displaying Fairy & Gnome themed LEGO builds at the Annemarie Gardens Fairy Festival. This year, we increased our emphasis on Play Brick for children to participate and express their creativity throughout the annual festival.
BrickWorld Chicago - June 17-18, 2023
One of the largest LEGO conventions in the country. Charm City LUG had a great showing and even scored a nomination for an award!
BrickFair VA - August 5-6, 2023
Our annual flagship event hosted by BrickFair Lego Fan Expo. This event attracts over 1,500 AFOL builders, and a public attendance of over 15,000! At the 2023 event, Charm City LUG displayed its largest display yet, with a full city skyline, Star Wars display, and a massive Leaning Tower of Pisa build! At this event, LUG members were honored with one "Brickee" award.
Brick Erie - September 8-10, 2023
Held in Erie, PA, Charm City LUG displayed many artistic builds featuring a wide plethora of mosaics and an undersea coral city!
Marley Station Mall Display - December 6-24, 2023
Neighboring the annual Marley Station Mall Christmas train garden, Charm City LUG displayed their own train garden featuring a wide array of buildings and even a working ski slope!
2022 - 10 Events
Marley Mall Display - November 19, 2021 through January 9, 2022
Organized annually by Charm City LUG members, this holiday city/train display features original LEGO builds from the LUG. This year our display featured an operational LEGO train, as well as a full holiday parade including LEGO floats and 'balloons'. We are always thrilled to bring some cheer on to the faces of visitors throughout the holiday season!
Bricks through the Window - May 21, 2022
Charm City LUG organized this inaugural event held at our regular meeting venue. During the event, we set up original builds for library visitors to view through a conference room window, ensuring COVID-safe options to engage with the public about LEGO.
Fairy & Gnome Home Festival - May 28, 2022 through June 30, 2022
Hosted by the Annemarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, this event in it's 12th year featured themed builds from Charm City LUG members showing off LEGO fairy and gnome houses. During the Festival kick-off, Charm City LUG organized a LEGO brick pit for children of all ages to build and express their creativity.
BrickFair VA - August 6-7, 2022

Erie Comic Con - September 16-18, 2022
Charm City LUG always is excited to bring new events to the public, and thanks to the leadership of one of our members, helped coordinate the introduction of a LEGO display at the established Erie Comic Con in Erie, PA. This event included participation from several partnering LUGs across the area, displays of MOCs, and a panel from one of our LUG leaders.
BrickFair Exton, PA - September 24-25, 2022
BrickFair was on the move with the introduction of a new location for the Fall of 2022. Charm City LUG participated with a handful of builders, displaying MOCs throughout the weekend. For the Month of November, this touring display made its way to the Rockville Memorial Library in Rockville, MD.
Bricks @ Elkridge - November 5, 2022
First introduced as Bricks in the spring of this year, the socially distant event for families of all ages returned held at our regular meeting venue. During the event, we set up original builds for library visitors to view through a conference room window, ensuring COVID-safe options to engage with the public about LEGO.

Charm City LUG organized this inaugural event supporting the Reston Museum and Historic Trust in Reston, VA. The event included a 'Master Builder' gallery featuring original builds from Charm City LUG members, as well as a LEGO build contest held for participants 5-18 showing off their creativity with bricks!
